Numerous people have been displaced after a fire ravaged dwellings in Stilwaney Crescent over the weekend.
According to fire and rescue service spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse they received the emergency call at 20:52 on Saturday, 11 June. “Several resources were on scene and managed to contain and extinguish the blaze just after 23:00,” he says.
Law enforcement needed to be called in, however, as “the crowd was volatile upon their arrival”.
Two flats and various informal dwellings were damaged. “The cause of the fire is undetermined and no injuries were reported.”
The community has since started collecting goods and clothes for the 22 people who have lost all their belongings.
This includes clothing for children of the following sizes: female (six months, 10 months, six years old, eight years old and three years old) and male (two six-year-olds). Grownups: Male (size 30-38), female (size (30-40). Drop off donations at the civic centre in Kasselsvlei Road.
