Western Cape police gathered at Ravensmead Police Station on Wednesday (26 April) for a wreath laying ceremony for Constable Christoper Mouton.
Mouton died following an accidental shooting at Kraaifontein Police Station last week.
According to a message received from several sources the incident occurred after 20:00 where two officers were sitting in a police vehicle. According to the message, one of the officers accidentally discharged a firearm hitting Mouton.
The incident is now being investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid).
On Wednesday, friends and family gathered at the Ravensmead Police Station where Mouton was stationed, as senior police officers laid wreaths at a cross erected in the station garden to honour him. The funeral was later held at a nearby church.
