The fetus of baby girl was found last Saturday by a vagrant while scratching for food in a bin at a supermarket in Durbanville.
According to Captain Marchell Rhode, spokesperson of the Durbanville police, the fetus was found on 19 August around 16:00 in a plastic bag in a bin at the Sonstraal Spar.
The man immediately informed the security guard at the supermarket about what he had discovered.
“At this stage it is unknown who the baby girl fetus belonged to,” Rhode said.
An autopsy will be done to establish the age of the fetus and the cause of death.
A case regarding the incident has been opened.
