A family was tied up and robbed of cash, valuables and a vehicle during a brazen early morning house robbery in Sonstraal East on Sunday.

Durbanville police have opened a house robbery case for investigation following a serious incident in Sonstraal East that left a family traumatised but physically unharmed.

The robbery occurred in Sondal Crescent, Sonstraal East, during the early hours of Sunday morning, 9 November, at approximately 04:00.

Western Cape police spokesperson Sgt Wesley Twigg confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.

“Durbanville police registered a house robbery case for investigation following an incident in Sondal Crescent, Sonstraal East, on Sunday morning,” said Twigg.

“According to reports, unknown suspects entered the premises, tied up the family, took an undisclosed amount of cash, electronic equipment, jewellery and a vehicle belonging to the victim before fleeing the scene.”

The investigation is ongoing. Police have not yet released details about the number of suspects involved or descriptions of the stolen vehicle.
