Fairmont High School paid tribute on Monday to an ex-learner of the school after he passed away in a car accident on the West Coast this past weekend.
Dylan Muller (19), one of a twin and presumed to be a student at Stellenbosch University this year, finished matric at Fairmont High School last year.
In the tribute on its Facebook page, the school described him “as a cherished member of the Fairmont High School family, known for his bright smile, strong leadership and kindness towards others”.
“His spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. As we grieve this profound loss, we remember Dylan for the joy that he brought into our lives and the many ways in which he made our school a better place.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Dylan’s parents, twin sister, family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” reads the statement.
Dylan and another person, Ashley du Toit (21), were on their way to Paternoster when their vehicles crashed with a truck at about 20:00 at the crossing of the R45 (Vredenburg-Hopefield) and R27 (West Coast Road).
They had to be cut from their vehicle. Du Toit was taken to Life West Coast Hospital in a critical condition but passed away at the hospital.
Dylan passed away at the scene of the accident.
