An Elsies River man has survived a bullet to the head in a shooting on Thursday morning (19 January).
According to a police report, officers were called to Loughton Avenue at 07:50 where they found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his forehead and hip.
Police spokesperson Captain Daphne O’Reilly says it is alleged that the victim was standing in the door of a residence in Loughton Avenue to have a smoke.
“The victim saw an unknown male passing the house and the suspect turned around and fired six shots in the direction of the victim. The victim was hit in his forehead and hip. The victim was treated on the scene and rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.”
She says police are now investigating the attempted murder and at this stage the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
