Eleven people were injured in a collision involving five vehicles near Fisantekraal this morning (Wednesday 30 May).
The collision happened at about 08:40 at the intersection of Klipheuwel and Lichtenburg Road.
According to Captain Marchell Rhode, Durbanville police spokesperson, a green Nissan Sabre turned left out of Lichtenburg Road in the direction of Durbanville, when a grey Opel Corsa, which was also travelling in the direction of Durbanville, collided into the back of the Nissan Sabre.
The impact of the collision caused the two vehicles to collide against three other vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.
Paramedics from ER24, as well as metro and fire services of the City of Cape Town, arrived at the scene, says Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.
“All the vehicles were in the middle of the road, while the passengers and drivers were found walking around at the scene,” Meiring said.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that 11 people had sustained minor injuries. Nobody was seriously injured.
The patients were treated for their injuries, of which six were transported to nearby hospitals, says Meiring.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
