On Monday 5 August the City of Cape Town’s law enforcement metals theft unit officers responded to a complaint of electrical cables being stripped at a residence in Lentegeur.
On arrival at the property they observed a heap of cable insulation outside the back door of the property.
The officers also noticed a Wendy house on the property.
After being given permission to enter, they found the outer covers of a 132000V 3 core copper cable.
On further inspection a complete 3m piece of 132000V x 3 core copper cable was found.
A 50-year-old suspect was arrested in terms of the Criminal Matters Amendments Act and for being in possession of stolen property that belongs to the City of Cape Town.
From the remains of the cable insulation it is evident that the value of the cable amounts to thousands of rands.
Further investigation is in process.
