Learners from Edgemead High School currently feature in a brand new music video by music artist Reece van Schalkwyk.

The learners are Charnè Jupp (Grade 11), Kayla Dupont (Grade 12) and Tatum Mac Simlah (Grade 11).

Reece, who is originally from Johannesburg but moved to Cape Town three years ago, told TygerBurger that the song is called “The Game” and that the music video is an intimate, expansive representation of all the elements of the song. Each scene has its own meaning, relating to the lyrics of the song, he explains.

“The entire song was written by me, including the whole music video. I also co-directed it, created the song melody, hired all the costumes and even contacted the two most popular influencers in South Africa, The Ballzy Boy and Garfield Zar, to be in my music video personally.

“I also got into contact with Edgemead High School to secure a few enthusiastic performers who really gave the best energy to my project and truly had fun being part of it.

“I made so many new friends and I cannot even describe how grateful I am that everything worked out even better than I thought,” he says.

He adds: “They all have an amazing work ethic, and are highly mature and responsible. It was an absolute pleasure to work with these girls from Edgemead High School and I hope they succeed in everything they do in life.”

The video was filmed at the Homecoming Centre in Cape Town on 28 July.
