Durbanville is celebrating the achievement of one of its own, media entrepreneur and wellness advocate Berne de Klerk, who was named top-3 finalist at the 10th annual Woman of Stature Awards South Africa, in the media and journalism category.
The star-studded gala event, held on 12 April at the Indaba Hotel in Johannesburg, saw more than 700 remarkable South African women nominated, making this year’s awards the most competitive to date.
A familiar face in the wellness space, De Klerk is the founder of Five Colour Collective, a marketing and media company, but more widely known for her health-and-wellness television productions, which reach audiences across Africa.
In addition to producing more than 450 wellness episodes on DStv’s SuperSport, 365 days a year, twice a day, she completed two seasons of her Afrikaans television show, Lewenslus Kuiers met Berne, in collaboration with DStv’s VIA channel, an accomplishment she lists as one of her proudest moments. The show invites celebrities across South Africa to share their life stories and mental wellness.
To TygerBurger she said this milestone celebrated her journey and that of everyone who walked this path with her.

“I am deeply honoured to be recognised among such purpose-driven women,” she declared. “Representing Cape Town and being named a top-3 finalist among more than 700 nominations are both humbling and energising.”
The Woman of Stature Awards, now in its 10th year, celebrates excellence, leadership and resilience in women across 14 diverse categories. While the title of Overall Woman of Stature South Africa 2025 was awarded to HOT 102.7 FM’s Tara Penny, Berne’s finalist status highlights her outstanding influence in marketing and media as well as her broader community contributions.
Her story of not just of business success, but leadership, being an example for aspiring entrepreneurs and change makers throughout the country.
