Dunoon man dies in fire

The City of Cape Town says 10 homes went up in flames leaving 50 people displaced and one person dead.


A Dunoon man has died in a fire which broke out in the early hours of Saturday (22 April. 

According to a report from Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Liezl Moodie, firefighters responded to a fire in Mnandi Street at 01:40. 

She says 10 wood and iron structures were destroyed by fire, leaving approximately 50 people displaced. 

“One  adult male died as a result of fatal burn wounds. The cause is undetermined at this stage. City’s disaster risk management was activated to provide the necessary relief. Scene handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS),” she says.
