Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R33 000 was discovered at the back of a house in Norwood in Elsies River.
The 1 150 tablets were hidden in a blue plastic bag on top of a wheelie bin on the property.
According to Elsies River police spokesperson, Captain Daphne O’Reilly, the drugs were discovered while officers were conducting crime prevention patrols in 23rd Avenue, Norwood on Thursday 17 November.
“When officers approached the house in 23rd Avenue, an unknown man ran away from the house. However, officers investigated and found the drugs on the property,” O’Reilly says.
According to a provincial police spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk, no arrest has been made and the drugs were booked in as having been found abandoned.
