A 43-year-old suspect was arrested in Thornton on Monday morning (14 May) for being in possession of drugs valued at R500 000.
Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, provincial police spokesperson, says members of the National Intervention Unit reacted to a tipoff from the community.
A search of premises in Rifle Range Road led to the discovery of 2000 Mandrax tablets, 300g of tik and a substance which is yet to be analysed for classification, but is suspected to be ephedrine.
The suspect was due to make a court appearance today (Wednesday) in Goodwood to face a charge of dealing in drugs.
