A 40-year old taxi driver was killed following a shooting in Delft South today (13 March).
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Brian Daniels, says Michael Soko (40) was in his taxi when an unknown suspect opened fire on him at the Delft Taxi Rank shortly before 05:00.
A portion of Delft Main Road was closed off as the taxi driver tried to flee and crashed into the fence of a house. Shortly before 10:00, the man’s body was removed from the vehicle while residents looked on.
Residents claim rival taxi associations have been fighting since Friday 10 March.
Daniels says six cartridges were found at the taxi rank and no arrests have been made at this stage.
