Instead of spoiling your children with sweets and chocolates in their traditional advent calendar to count off the days to Christmas, parents can teach their children the joy of giving and help them to collect items for vulnerable people.
MES Cape Town has come up with the brilliant idea to issue an advent calendar in which people can gather specific items on each day of November in a box – for example a packet of biscuits on the 5th, a large face cloth on the 19th, a toothbrush on the 24th, Zambuck ointment on the 29th and finally, a message of hope on the 30th.
The box can be delivered to MES offices in Durbanville and Parow at the end of November and will be handed out to vulnerable people at Christmas.MES Cape Town invites families, businesses, and churches to join in this exciting, yet responsible way of giving.
