Detectives at Kleinvlei Police Station awarded for excellent service

Sgt James Ricardo van Wyk, WO Johnefer Patrick Baartman, Capt Stoffel Frederick Plaatjie and Ferdinan Michael Roman received awards.

Despite losing dockets in a fire that gutted the detective section of the Kleinvlei police department, detectives still achieved success.

A fire broke out at the Kleinvlei Police Offices in March and the detective departments were destroyed.

According to police spokesperson Const Jessica Radebe all the equipment was destroyed and thirteen detectives were left without an office.

“The neighbouring stations are assisting in this regard. There is an ongoing arson investigation,” says Radebe.

Despite these circumstances the detectives from Kleinvlei were not deterred and focus on their purpose to serve the community of Kleinvlei.

“The detective group with the most arrests was given a big floating trophy. Each member received a certificate for their excellent service and a small trophy for the member with the most arrests,” says Radebe.

Sgt James Ricardo van Wyk, WO Johnefer Patrick Baartman, Capt Stoffel Frederick Plaatjie and Const Ferdinan Michael Roman al received awards.

Col Richard Koopman, Station Commander at Kleinvlei, praised the detectives for their hard work.

“We salute the command structure at Kleinvlei police’s detective branch for the initiative to create a positive, competition driven approach to ensure that, despite a very difficult working environment, to stay motivated and to lift the performance standards and effecting good arrests on reported cases,” says Koopman.
