Delivery truck hijacked in Durban Road

The men were at the Caltex garage delivering juice when two men approached them. One had a firearm and they forced the personnel into the back of the truck and drove off with them until they got to De La Haye.

truck was hijacked in Durban road in
Bellville on Wednesday (13 September) while making a delivery at a shop.

Bellville police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Henrietta van Niekerk,
says the hijacking took place around 14:00.

The truck was found in De La Haye and nothing seems to be taken from it.

“The men were at the Caltex garage delivering juice when two
men approached them. One had a firearm and they forced the personnel into the back of the truck and drove off
with them until they got to De La Haye.”

Van Niekerk says that only money was taken from the van’s personnel and nothing else.

“The hijackers drove with the men to
Park Street in De La Haye, where the
truck was found.”

She says the hijacked workers’ cellphones were not taken, so they managed to call their boss after they
were abandoned inside the truck in De La Haye.

“Police are still investigating the hijacking and no arrests
have been made yet.”
