The installation of the fence at Potsdam, Table View in Ward 113 may take a bit longer to be completed due to a snag.

In the subcouncil meeting last week news was shared that there was a delay due to material having to be transported from Johannesburg.

The contractor is on site and construction of the fence commenced on Friday last week.

In March this year TygerBurger reported on the fence installation.

Joy Solomon, ward councillor, said last week three quarters of the existing fence had already been stolen and recommended that security guards be employed when the current installation project is complete.

The budget of the project was kept under R2 million.

The area considered to be fenced is situated between Blaauwberg Road and the Killarney International Raceway, and Potsdam Road and the Diep River – an area which is part of the historic “Potsdam Outspan” site.

At the meeting held at the municipal building in Royal Ascot in Bridle Way, Milnerton on Thursday 23 June, subcouncil chair Phindile Maxiti indicated that last week’s meeting was the last one for the 2021–’22 financial year before the recess from 24 June to 18 July.

The next subcouncil meeting takes place on 25 August.
