The Bishop Lavis police are investigating the murder of a well-known dancer from Bishop Lavis.
Christopher Adams was the leader of the hip-hop crew BTS (Break the Silence).
According to police spokesperson Sgt Samantha Adonis, cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated.
“This office confirms the incident of murder and attempted murder on Saturday 11 March at about 20:30 at no. 16 10th Avenue. The 31-year-old Christopher Adams from Bishop Lavis was found at above address with one gunshot wound to his chest on the right side. He was declared dead on the scene. During the same incident a 36-year-old woman known as Nairicia Hendricks from Bishop Lavis was shot in her back. She was taken to Elsies River day hospital,” says Adonis.
According to Adonis three unknown men approached the victims and demanded Adams’ phone.
“When they couldn’t get the phone, one of the men took out a firearm and shot two shots towards them. They then took the music box of the deceased and ran away. The motive for the shooting is believed to be robbery. The police is still busy with an investigation and request anyone with information to contact them on 021 935 9803 or 082 411 2508,” says Adonis.
Kaylib Mango was one of the people who posted on Facebook about the shock of Adams’ passing.
“My prayers go out to Bishop Lavis and the family. I’m totally shocked and sad actually. Just four weeks ago on 11 February I met this crew at an event and a month later, 11 March, he passes on. I still spoke to him two days ago to have their crew perform at my fundraiser and he was filled with so much excitement. Today you are dancing with the angels. May your faithful departed soul, through the mercies of God, rest in peace and rise in Glory,” wrote Mango.
