Some of the drugs confiscated in Table View

SAPS

The smell of dagga in the air led to a drug bust in the Site 5 informal settlement near Table View.

According to a report by Table View police, officers were conducting patrols on Friday (17 February) when they got a whiff of dagga and traced the smell to a nearby house.

Police spokesperson, Captain Adriana Chandler, says officers requested permission to search the residence and the occupants seemed nervous.

“The owner gave permission and one of the officers remembered that this particular individual was previously arrested on a charge of possession of cannabis. The officers discovered a plastic bag containing mandrax tablets, some whole and some quartered.  A large amount of cannabis wrapped in newspaper and some in small plastic bags were also found inside the dwelling.”

The 40-year-old homeowner was arrested and will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today (Monday 20 February).

Milnerton cluster commander, Major-General Aneeqah Jordaan congratulated the officers involved in the arrest.
