Courtney’s alleged killer arrested

Courtney Peters’s alleged killer (40) in police custody.

A 40-year-old man was arrested in Elsies River last night (Sunday 14 May) for the murder of Courtney Peters (3).

Courtney was first reported missing just over a week ago and police embarked on a wide search to find the toddler, which yielded no results.

On Saturday (13 May) a search party found the body of a female child near Bofors Circle in Epping and many feared the body was that of Courtney.

At the time, police indicated that a post mortem would be done to determine the identity of the body and the cause of the death.

TygerBurger has learned that Courtney’s family positively identified the body the next day.

On Sunday 14 May, Courtney’s home was cordoned off by police, and helicopters were seen over Elsies River in search of the man who is believed to have lived in the same house as Courtney as a boarder.

Elsies River police spokesperson, Captain Daphne O’Reilly, confirmed the man was arrested in Salberau and is currently in custody. At this stage, the cause of death and the motive is unknown and the post mortem is being carried out.
