Drama unfolded at the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court this morning (17 May) as residents stormed the courtyard during the arrival of the man accused of killing Courtney Peters (3).

The 40-year-old man who is believed to have lived in the same house as Courtney was arrested on Sunday in Elsies River.

During his first appearance it was revealed that he has been charged with both the rape and murder of Courtney. The suspect did not apply for bail yet and a request was made by the defense that the suspect be moved to the hospital section of Goodwood Prison as he fears for his safety.

The suspect’s name is known to TygerBurger but he may not be identified until he has pleaded to the charges.

The case has been postponed to 24 May.

Meanwhile outside the court several angry residents were protesting calling for justice for Courtney.

One of the residents told TygerBurger that should the man return to Elsies “ons gaan hom opf**”.
