Two of the councillors who served in Subcouncil 3 in Milnerton for several years were praised for the hard work, commitment and contribution towards the subcouncil at a meeting held on Thursday last week.
The two councillors, Cheryl Visser (Ward 1 which includes Plattekloof, Panorama and Monte Vista) and Miquette Temlett (Ward 5 which includes Edgemead and Bothasig) now both serve in Subcouncil 7 which sits in Durbanville.
The change was made in line with the City of Cape Town’s recent amendments to its subcouncil boundaries.
Well-wishes
On Thursday 19 September during the last Subcouncil 3 meeting, Visser and Temlett were both thanked for their work. Phindile Maxiti, chair, was the first to bid them farewell. “We wish them all the best and want to thank them for their hard work and commitment and everything they have contributed to subcouncil,” says Maxiti.
He added: “We are looking forward to working with two new ward councillors and their contributions.”
Makuwa also said it was an honour to work with Visser and Temlett.
“They are an inspiration, and I want to thank them. I also want to welcome the two new councillors and hope we will have a good working relationship, to see that our communities are moving forward and prosper,” she says. The wards which now fall under Subcouncil 3, include Wards 104 (Dunoon); 113 (Table View); 4 (Milnerton); 55 (Rugby, Ysterplaat and Brooklyn) and 56 (Kensington, and Maitland).
The councillors for these wards are Meisie Makuwa, Susan van der Linde, Anthony Benadie, Fabian Ah-Sing and Cheslyn Steenberg, respectively.
Last week’s meeting was started on a cheerful note when the councillors, City officials and the public sang “Happy Birthday” to the manager, Roxanne Moses.
