A stolen gun, drugs and ammunition were recovered by police in Bellville.
According to Bellville police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Henrietta van Niekerk, their station’s task team was out on patrol at noon in “hotspot” areas when the incident happened.
They spotted a suspicious Silver Golf GTI at the notorious Parksig Villas complex in Bellville.
Three men and a woman were sitting in the car outside the complex, which is often in the news for unlawful activities in the vicinity.
“Upon searching a vehicle, a firearm was found under the driver’s seat,” Van Niekerk said.
“ The firearm was tested and came up positive as stolen, in a case in East London.”
The police also recovered ammunition and drugs.
“It is suspected that the vehicle could have been used in a crime committed in the Bellville area,” Van Niekerk added.
Cases of possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drugs were opened.
