Table View police have arrested four alleged drug dealers after receiving a tip-off from a member of the community.
Captain Adriana Chandler, police spokesperson, says the police were made aware of the suspects and their alleged illegal activities on Monday 14 August by an anonymous caller, which led to their arrest.
The information led them to a house in Stilt Avenue in Table View.
“News of a strong suspicion that drugs were being manufactured and sold from the premises was shared with the police, who then reacted swiftly on the information,” Chandler says.
After gaining entry to the house, the police caught a strong odour of cannabis in the air, she says.
“One of the officers saw mandrax tablets lying on a table in one of the rooms,” she says.
Four people were inside the house at the time.
Upon further searching of the house, they also found cannabis plants.
“One of the suspects responded that it was a tomato plant. Unfortunately for him, the officers have seen many cannabis plants and were able to conclusively confirm this by the structure of the stem and leaves,” Chandler says.
She says other paraphernalia, including lights, fans and thermostats were discovered.
All four were expected to appear in the Cape Town’s Magistrate’s court on Wednesday 16 August.
