Cop allegedly shoots family in Milnerton

It is said that the police officer fatally shot and wounded his 46-year-old wife and 20-year-old daughter and also injured himself around 03:00 on Thursday morning.


The provincial police confirmed on Thursday (31
August) that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) are
investigating a shooting incident in which a Milnerton police officer had
allegedly opened fire on his family.

Captain Frederick van Wyk, a provincial police spokesperson, says the
circumstances around the shooting incident in Phoenix, Milnerton are currently
under investigation.

It is said that the police officer fatally shot and wounded his
46-year-old wife and 20-year-old daughter and also injured himself around 03:00
on Thursday morning.

“He (the officer) was transported to a nearby hospital for medical
treatment,” Van Wyk says.

The police say a double murder case was opened for investigation.
