Church empowers youth over holidays

The events included various activities such as sports, games, music, group discussions on values such as respect for elders and getting involved in your community through church, school community projects, community-based organisations, and so forth.

Local Scottsville church the
Yeshua Covenant has been running their youth safety awareness programme in July
and December over the last five years , and this year was no different.

The church welcomes youngsters
from all races and religions and the programme runs over five days during the
school holidays and the festive season. The programme was facilitated at the FF
Erasmus Recreation and Parks Community Hall in Scottsville from Monday 11 to
Friday 15 December from 09:00 until 16:00 daily.

The events included various
activities such as sports, games, music, group discussions on values such as
respect for elders and getting involved in your community through church,
school community projects, community-based organisations, and so forth.

The purpose of the project is to
keep the youth and children occupied during the holidays and educate them on
various topics, from safety awareness to moral values – that can make a
meaningful contribution to their lives and help create safer and better
communities in Cape Town.

Rev Samuel Dean of the church
challenged all local businesses to support these community development
initiatives and help realise the dream of a peaceful society, as government
alone cannot achieve such ambitious dream.
