Ready for the new school term children with physical and mental disability in the Ceres district were overjoyed with new schoolbags and stationery gifted to them by Kraaifontein non-profit Nostop and bikers from the Goodwood Los Olvidados bikers club.

The heart-warming outreach hosted at St Mark’s Primary School by Nostop saw smiles all around as much needed support was provided to the children of Prince Alfred Hamlet in Ceres.

The initiative forms part of Nostop’s ongoing afterschool and feeding programme, hosted by locals Suhrien Booysen and her son Ashwin.

Stationery, ingredients

The highlight of the day was the visit from the Purple Team of the Hollywood Foundation, as they continue to fund our projects, says Nostop director Charlene Miles.

“Travelling all the way to Prince Alfred Hamlet, the team handed over schoolbags and stationery to the children, ensuring they have the necessary tools for their educational journey. This generous gesture was met with immense gratitude and excitement from the children, who were thrilled to receive these essential supplies.”

Adding to the day’s excitement was the presence of the bikers club. Facilitated by Bernice Kotze, the bikers donated stationery and ingredients for the feeding programme, to further support the community’s needs.

“Their involvement exemplified the spirit of giving and solidarity, contributing significantly to the event’s success,” says Miles.

The children were also treated to a musical performance by Peter van Wyk and Tommy Jooste.

“The outreach event was a tremendous success, filled with laughter, music, and acts of generosity. It demonstrated the power of unity and compassion, as the community came together to support and uplift these special children. We look forward to hosting more such events and continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most,” says Miles.
