Table View police officers embarked on a car chase on Monday (30 January) which led to the arrest of two men wanted for a Kraaifontein case.
According to a police report, Sergeant Rowan Dowie received information about suspects involved in breaking into vehicles heading towards Marine Circle and along with his partner, Constable Brenda Serite, spotted the vehicle with two occupants speeding towards the police vehicle, followed by armed response vehicles.
Police spokesperson, Captain Adriana Chandler, says Dowie attempted to block the road, by parking the vehicle sideways in the road.
“The passenger in the suspected vehicle was leaning out of the car and threw something out to the side of the road. The car manoeuvered its way around the police vehicle. Sergeant Dowie asked the armed response vehicle to safeguard and secure the area where the item was thrown out of the car and continued with the chase, whilst requiring back up from a neighbouring station.”
She says police officers in Milnerton managed to stop the vehicle in Troy Close near Joe Slovo. “The passenger jumped out of the vehicle and started to run. Constable Mphumzi Dyantyi from Table View Police Station chased the suspect and arrested him.”
Police discovered presumed stolen property when searching the vehicle and they also found the items thrown out of the vehicle are presumed to be devices used to jam the locking system of vehicles.
Chandler says the two suspects, aged 34 and 39, were linked to a Kraaifontein case registered in September 2016 and they will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (1 February).
