According to a report from ER24 paramedics, the
incident happened on the N7 at the Vissershok Road intersection near Table View.
ER24 paramedics, along with Life Healthcare and Metro Rescue Services, arrived on the scene and found the light motor vehicle in the middle of
the intersection while the large truck had come to a stop a short distance
away.
ER24 spokesperson Russell Meiring says upon closer inspection,
paramedics found a woman in her early 20s lying trapped inside the vehicle.
“Metro Rescue Services had to use the jaws-of-life
equipment to free the woman in an operation that lasted 20 minutes. Once freed,
paramedics found that woman was in a serious condition. Paramedics treated the
woman and provided her with advanced life support interventions. Once treated,
the woman was transported to Mediclinic Milnerton for urgent treatment.”
Meiring says the truck driver was assessed, treated and
transported to hospital by another service.
The cause of the collision is not yet known, but local
authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
