Three men
were arrested for cable theft in Bishop Lavis.

Police
received a tip-off on Wednesday 24 January
about criminals who are allegedly operating during the night in the Bonteheuwel
split area, to steal PRASA cables.

In a
statement, Western Cape police spokeswoman Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says the
men aged 23, 31 and 37 respectively were arrested in possession of a PRASA
cable.

“Once they
are charged, the suspects will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on
charges related to theft.

“The
Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi
Jula, encouraged police to continue
protecting the interests of communities and strengthen partnerships with
external stakeholders,” she says.
