The learner was recently forced into a toilet by bullies is struggling emotionally, lost his appetite and is “battling all this inside”.
The 14-year-old learner, who’s name is being withheld to protect his identity, was cornered in a school toilet, dumped in the toilet and smeared with faeces. To make matters worse, videos and photos were taken of the incident and was spread all over social media.
This created more problems, as according to the mother, the learner was moved to another school, but when he arrived there he was taunted because he was recognised from social media.
“He had to turn back. I went to the school to tell them what happened and the principal promised to make some calls. They also promised to come visit us at home, but they failed to do so,” says the mother. She told TygerBurger that two of the bullies were arrested and that three others were suspended.
The provincial education department recently released a statement warning learners to refrain from taking pictures of bullying incidents and spreading it.
