A teenage girl miraculously escaped her three abductors
after being grabbed off the street in Brackenfell in the early evening of
Sunday 19 November.
In an ordeal that seemed endless the 15-year-oldl, whose
identity is being protected, jumped out of the car after being sexually
assaulted by one of the men.
She left her home in Shiraz Street, Protea Heights
momentarily when the incident occurred around 18:00.
“She just went outside to go call her little sister, who was
playing at a neighbour’s house, for supper,” her legal guardian told
TygerBurger. “She didn’t see her [little sister] and walked back down the road.
This is when it happened. One of the men walked past her in the street, first
greeted her and then turned around and came up behind her. He grabbed her and
dragged her to a car that pulled up. She was then shoved into the back of the
vehicle and her mouth gagged. There was two more men inside the vehicle.

“They drove off with her, and for the sake of my sister we
can’t divulge what happened in that car other than to say she went through
hell. It is when the car neared a stop street that she managed to free herself
by opening the door and jumping out.”
“She ran down the street towards the house of a family
friend to seek help, when a man stopped to help her,” the guardian and family
member said. “She was hysterical and in a bad state when we rushed her to
hospital.”
The girl sustained scratches and bruising on her body and is
severely traumatised.
“She wakes up shaking in bed at night and has extreme night
terrors. She is currently receiving trauma counselling. I too am still in a
state of utter shock and disbelieve that something like this could happen in a
seemingly safe neighbourhood where the kids play outside every day.”
According to the guardian the victim could recall the
appearance of the man who grabbed her and was expected to assist police with
the sketching of an identikit. She also recalled the vehicle as a very old
dark-coloured, box-shaped car.
“A case has been registered with police, who have taken a
statement and are currently investigating a case of attempted kidnapping and
sexual assault.”
