A 31-year-old man was arrested after a 64-year-old man from Vredekloof East in Brackenfell was found dead in his house on Friday morning (15 September).

Brackenfell police spokesperson, Captain Erica Crous, says a 31-year-old man from Bonteheuwel was stopped by community members after he was seen driving the deceased’s white BMW.

“Members of Khayelitsha police drove by and stopped. The suspect was arrested for theft of motor vehicle.”

Crous says an additional charge of murder was added to the man’s charge sheet after the body of the man was found in his home at about 10:25.

“It is suspected that the man died of wounds inflicted by a sharp object,” she said.

The Brackenfell detective branch is investigating the case.

The man will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Monday (18 September).
