A seven-year old boy was wounded in a shooting accident inside a tavern along Old Paarl Road in Bloekombos last week Friday.
The incident occurred at about 22:10 on 7 July when two unknown armed men walked into the shebeen. According to provincial police spokesperson FC van Wyk the men ordered the patrons to lie down on the floor, robbed them and then demanded money from the owner.
“The owner, a 42-year old man, was then shot in the stomach and is in a critical condition. The minor was shot in the right arm after the robbers started shooting randomly,” said Van Wyk.
An attempted murder and attempted robbery case is being investigated by the Kraaifontein police.
