Boy (16) arrested for dealing drugs with an estimated value of R60 000.


A 16-year-old boy from Elsies River has been arrested and charged for drug dealing following a raid this morning.

Elsies River police spokesperson, Captain Daphne O’Reilly, says officers of the Nyanga Cluster Stabilisation Unit pounced on the teenager this morning (2 February) and confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R60 000.

The teen was arrested at the house in 22nd Avenue after police received a tip-off.

O’Reilly, says the officers searched the premises and found mandrax and ecstasy tablets in one of the bedrooms.

“After a further search the officers also found a .45 Star Pistol hidden in the bathroom as well as 15 .45 rounds of ammunition and 16 9mm rounds,” O’Reilly says.

They also confiscated 68 “boss” mandrax tablets, 170 “eagle” mandrax tablets, 620 ecstasy tablets and 125 grams of mandrax powder.

 O’Reilly says the officers were applauded for their good work and will continue with their zero tolerance approach on all drug activities in the Elsies River and the Nyanga Cluster.
