There was no attempted kidnapping close to Wolraad Woltemade Primary this afternoon, says Warrant Officer Jacques Mostert, spokesperson of Bothasig Police.
The message about an attempted kidnapping started to spread quickly after the principal, Elaine Kesten, sent a message to parents around 15:00 today (Wednesday 29 August) in which she alert parents that an attempted kidnapping happened near the school in Adam Tas Road. Kesten requested that parents be on time and fetch their children from inside the school grounds.
Kesten told TygerBurger that a child was walking with a nanny in Adam Tas Road when a vehicle pulled up. Apparently a neighbour came to the rescue. Mostert said , “it is suspected that the occupants of a white Opel Corsa might have wanted to rob the domestic worker as she was wearing nice jewellery.
At no time was there an attempt to snatch the child.”
