Bonteheuwel CBD to be upgraded

The local Ward councillor from Bonteheuwel hopes that upgrades to walkways and the perimeter of the Bonteheuwel Centre will bring welcome feet to the CBD.

Angus McKenzie says he has taken money out of his ward allocation budget to beautify the perimeters that have been neglected for a long time. “Since we started with the project of upgrading the CBD and specifically the plaza more feet and more jobs came to the area. It really is a political driver. We sincerely hope that the new upgrades will help us bring even more business and more jobs to the area. We want people to be proud of their surroundings and we will not stop until everyone can say out loud that they are from Bonteheuwel,” says McKenzie.

According to McKenzie contractors will over the next few weeks start levelling the area around the CBD. He stressed that local contractors will do the work.

“It is important that local people do the work, because the upgrades will help the disabled and old people to have easy access to the area. We want local people so that we can do everything for ourselves and we don’t need people from outside.”
