Bonteheuwel boy (13) found hanging near train station

Bishop Lavis police investigate cause of boy’s death.

Bishop Lavis police are investigating what happened to a Bonteheuwel boy (13) who was found hanging from a pole near Netreg train station this afternoon (24 March).

Police spokesperson, Captain Marie Louw, says police officers were patrolling the area when they “saw something moving in the wind”.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered the body of a 13-year-old boy hanging from a pole with a belt around his neck.

Louw says despite rumors of suicide, police have to wait for a post mortem report to determine the cause of death.

At this stage, detectives are on the scene and an inquest docket has been opened.
