The body of a man believed to be in his early thirties was
found at the Buttskop level crossing in Blackheath this morning.
Mfuleni police station commander, Brigadier Pieter Galant,
confirms the body was found at the crossing after 07:00. “The deceased suffered
a stab wound to the chest and a case of murder is currently being
investigated,” says Galant.
Police were still combing the scene as local residents
awaited the arrival of Minister of Transport, Dr Blade Nzimande, at the level
crossing. Nzimande’s visit comes in the wake of a collision between a train and
bakkie, which claimed the lives of seven men on Freedom Day. The men were on
their way to work when the incident took place at about 05:45.
