In another bloody weekend in TygerBurger’s distribution area a man allegedly killed his mother and his niece, while a five-year-old was shot in the arm.
Daffidol Faro (62) and her 10-year-old granddaughter Aseeqah Erasmus were strangled to death.
According to a police statement officers attended a crime scene at Panoster Square in Kalksteenfontein, near Bishop Lavis, on Saturday. “They found the bodies of a 64-year-old female and a 10-year-old girl. The 64-year-old victim was found with her body half in the fridge freezer and the little girl was found in the bath. The bath was overflowing with water as the water was still running when the (older) victim’s daughter found them at 10:10. It is alleged that the son of the 64-year-old victim killed his mom and his sister’s child. The matter is still under investigation.”
It is alleged the suspect even stabbed the family dog on the scene.
Graham Lindhorst, spokesperson for the Bishop Lavis Community Policing Forum (CPF), says it is alleged that the suspect has been threatening his mother.
“She got an interdict against him as he promised he will do something to her. They appeared in court three weeks ago and today she is gone. The justice system failed us,” says Lindhorst.
Ashley Faro (39) was arrested shortly after the murder and appeared in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s court on Monday. The case has been postponed to Thursday (tomorrow).
More deaths in Belhar
In Belhar, a five-year-old was shot in the arm and another person was killed Sunday.
According to Ismael Arnold, spokesperson for the local CPF, the attack occurred at a house in Extension 9. “It is alleged that the shooter came looking for someone and when that person wasn’t there, he opened fire. The deceased was shot in the head and died on the scene.” The five-year-old was stabilised at the Belhar fire station before being taken to hospital.
Arnold says the deceased’s name is Oscar (“Boogie”) Snell.
“We urge the community to help the police and track down the murderer. This is not an isolated incident, but because the community is scared to call out the culprits, it will continue.”
