A two-year-old survived a near-drowning incident on Wednesday.

A toddler (2) from Stellenberg in Bellville was hospitalised after she was found by her mother lying face-down in the family pool.

This is according to a statement by ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring.

Paramedics were called to the scene after the child, from Mauritius Road, was found.

“Upon arrival, paramedics found the parents performing CPR on the lifeless child,” Meiring says.

“ER24 paramedics immediately took over CPR and provided the patient with several advanced life support interventions. After some time, the patient’s vital signs returned,” he adds.

The child was taken to the nearby Mediclinic Cape Gate for further treatment.
