At 10:00 sharp on Sunday 16 June, 72 teams will take to eight fields for the 11th annual Bayview U-16 Youth Cup.
Over six days, the best of youth soccer will be on display at the Strandfontein Sports Complex.
Tournament director Mark Rodrigues says following the play-offs last year and recognising the high quality of players across the board, they have expanded the competition even further for this year.
“There was a lot of interest in the tournament. The tournament has grown to become the number one u-16 tournament in the whole of South Africa. The team from Namibia will join us again for a third year in a row, and that makes it more interesting,” he says.
With several players having been scouted from the tournament in previous years, this offers a platform for youth to be seen by clubs across the world, says Rodrigues.
This year, selected games will also be live-streamed via YouTube thanks to video partner SpyInc productions.
