Bishop Lavis police are calling on the public to help them find the person responsible for dumping a foetus in a bin in Bishop Lavis today (Friday 3 March).
The 32 week old baby girl was found in a bin outside the Bishop Lavis Library.
According to Bishop Lavis police spokesperson Captain Marie Louw, municipal workers cleaning staff discovered the foetus, estimated to be 32 weeks old, in a bin outside the Bishop Lavis Library.
“When police arrived on the scene at about 09:20 they found the foetus in the bin with the umbilical cord still attached,” Louw says.
Louw says at this stage the forensic team is still on the scene.
“We are calling on anyone with information to come forward,” she says.
