Elsies River police have opened a case of attempted murder after a 27-year-old man was shot in Leonsdale in what’s believed to be a gang related incident.
Police spokeswoman Captain Daphne O’Reilly says the police were called to the scene in 9th Avenue after 19:00 last night.
“On our arrival were found a male with a gunshot wound in his right knee.
“According to information, the victim was standing at a tuck shop in Talana Close when he noticed the three suspects approach him through an alley next to Rhodes Court. The males were armed and started shooting at the victim,” explains O’Reilly.
Six cartridges were found on the scene.
It’s alleged the victim is a member of the Bad Boys Gang.
“The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The incident is suspected to be gang related,” says O’Reilly.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
