Another gang member in Bonteheuwel has been gunned down amid ongoing fights between rival gangs.
Bishop Lavis police spokesperson, Captain Marie Louw, says at about 19:30 on Monday (6 February) a teenager who is a member of the Stupa Boys gang was shot in the head in Rooihout Street.
She says the teen (19) was sitting on a street corner when a member of the Junky Funky gang opened fire shooting him in the head and fleeing the scene. The teen survived the shooting and police are now investigating an attempted murder case.
This follows another shooting involving the same gangs in Loganberry Road earlier on Monday where a 23-year-old member of the Stupa Boys was allegedly killed by three members of the Junky Funky gang.
Louw says the two gangs have been embroiled in an ongoing fight since December.
“It started in December but started to really get bad in January. The fights are ongoing.”
