Alleged robber arrested

The suspect, a 22-year old man from Gugulethu, will appear in the Kuils River court today.

Brackenfell police this morning confirmed that an arrest was made on Tuesday in connection with the attempt to rob an 11-year old girl in Brackenfell the previous week.

The suspect, a 22-year old man from Gugulethu, will appear in the Kuils River court today.

He was arrested at his residence after police followed up on information received from witnesses.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 16:20.

“It is alleged that the girl was sitting outside in front of her home in Sonkring when a silver Avanza (with four unknown males) stopped in the road.

The driver got out with a knife in his hand and grabbed her by her arm repeatedly, trying to rob her of her cellphone.  When a neighbour yelled at him to stop, he jumped in the Avanza and it sped away,” says police spokesperson, Captain Erica Crous.
