A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly beating an 11-month old baby in Delft.
It’s believed the suspect is the child’s father.
The baby survived the assault and was taken to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.
Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says the incident took place on Monday, 15 January, and the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 17 January.
“An attempted murder case has been opened for investigation. Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. The suspect was due to make a court appearance at the Bellville Magistrate’s Court today,” says Rwexana.
